One of my users just let me know that Gravatar now requires you to use a wordpress.com account.
He described the process as going down the rabbit hole, which I think is fair.
Create Discourse account => Create Gravatar account => create Wordpress account => Add avatar
I can't find any announcement from gravatar about this new requirement, but it had to have happened this week.
IMHO this makes custom avatars a more pressing need, as I don't really want to force users to create essentially 3 accounts in order to use an avatar.
Hoping that the core team might agree?
Might be something I could manage through a PR, will explore it, but if anyone is working on this it'd be great to know!
